WORLD CRICKET LEAGUE DIVISION 3 KAMPALA 2017: U.S.A v MALAYSIA
Malaysia 117/10 in 40.5 overs (Neville Liyanage 30(62), Aminudin Ramly 20(54), Timila Patel 3/36 in 10 overs, Steven Taylor 2/12 in 9.5 overs) lost to U.S.A 118/4 in 24 overs (Ibrahim Khaleel 49*(74), Camilus Alexander 30*(34), Pavndeep Singh 2/34 in 6 overs) by 6 wickets
U.S.A won the toss and elected to bat at Kyambogo Oval on a bright sunny morning to the relief of tournament officials where rain has been a threat.
Malaysia lost top order before the first drinks break with captain Faiz Ahmed being run out second game on the trot; Neville Linayage 30(62) and Aminudin Ramly 20(54) then put on 48 for the fifth wicket to to take Malaysia into the nineties.
Top wicket taker of the match Timil Patel broke the partnership and the middle order resistance Malaysia eventually all out for 117.
Ibrahim Khaleel 49*(74) and Captain Steven Taylor 25(42) put on 50 for the second wicket to half the recquired target and with the fall of Taylor’s wicket lunch was taken.
Khaleel continued to enjoy his Uganda tour, putting on another 50 run stand with Camillus Alexander 30*(34) to see the game home and register U.S.A’s first win of the tournament.
WORLD CRICKET LEAGUE DIVISION 3 ENTEBBE; UGANDA v SINGAPORE
Uganda 217/9 in 50 overs (Arnold Otwani 47(46), Ukani Shehzad 46(51), Selladore Vijaykumar 2/39 in 40 overs, Anantha Krishan 2/37 in 10 overs) beat Singapore 151/10 in 44 overs (CR Kumarage 40(52), Arjun Mutreaja 35(56), Muhammad Sahibzada 5/38 in 10 overs, Frank Nsubuga 1/12 in 8 overs) by 66 runs.
In Entebbe Uganda overcame Singapore by 66 runs to bounce back from the opening day loss to Canada on the back of a Muhammad Sahibzada 5 wicket Haul.
Hamu Kayondo 41(88), Ukani Shehzad 46(51) and Arnold Otwani 47(46) all got into the fourties but failed to convert after the hots had recovered with an 86 run stand for the sixth wicket from Otwani and Shehzad.
Deus Muhumuza 25*(26) continues to show his value late in the order remaining unbeaten with a run a ball knock at the back end of theinnings.
The Singapore run chase was led by Chaminda Ruwan 40(62) and Arjun Mutreja 35(56); Ruwan went LBW to Arinaitwe and Mutreja was stumped by Otwani off partnership breaker Roger Mukasa who later run out Skipper Chetan Suryawanshi 13(27) to begin the Singapore collapse.
Muhammad Sahibzada run through the Singapore late order with his bag of tricks to guide the hosts to a confidence boosting 66 run victory.
