Keshwala ‘B’ 146/8 in 16 overs (Dinesh Nakrani 49, Riyaz Sayed 42, Trevor Bukenya 3/28 in 4 overs) beat Keshwala ‘A’ (Hiren 17, Sanjay 14, Riyaz Sayed 2/13 in 4 overs) by 87 runs.
Mr. Ranmal Keshwala has made a significant contribution to the Night Cricket Tournament by entering two teams; Keshawal ‘A’ and Keshwala ‘B’.
He went a step further and also took some time out to import some professionals for the Aziz Damani/ Kampala Boys Sports Club and Uganda Cricket Association Night Cricket Tournament.
Lugogo Cricket Oval finally witnessed how the pros play the Tennis ball cricket! Their batting and bowling was clearly a class or few above what fans have witnessed thus far in the three editions of the tournament as Keshawala ‘B’ won by 87 runs.
Riyaz Sayed, Ketan Khunti, Dinesh Nakrani and Sambu Raviji made their debut in the night cricket tournament and lit up the proceedings with only the way pros can do what they are good at, runs and more runs; Dinesh Nakrani smashing 30 runs in one over as he dispatched Ravi Siyani over Deep Mid-wicket, Over long On, Over long Off, Over Deep mid-wicket and Over long on in one over to the amazement of the fans who had not witnessed this kind of hitting in the two previous editions of this Night cricket Tournament.
Riyaz Sayed (42) opened proceedings and the patience with which they built their innings was impressive; no panicked and wild swings at the ball, just careful building of an innings, Ketan Khunti (06) missed out but Arthur Kyobe (14) did not, the only man who plays Night Cricket with a helmet smashed two boundaries and a maximum in his brief stay at the crease.
Dinesh Nakrani (49) looked at ease, The left hander was always looking to rotate strike with intent and not as a move of frustration, he carefully marked out every bowler before going after Ravi Siyani; he smashed six 6s in the over as he dispatched him twice over mid-wicket, twice over long off and one huge one over long on before he was caught at the long on boundary.
Trevor Bukenya( 3/28 in 4 overs) has continued to show that he is a key bowler in this tournament as he was amongst the wickets for the third game running, clearly, a very good signing for Keshwala ‘A’.
Keshwala ‘B’ scoring 146 runs in their allotted overs.
Keshwala ‘A’ reply was always on the back foot as Riyaz Sayed and Collins Abong bowled some tight opening spells taking two and one wicket apiece respectively.
Hiren (17) and Sanjay Sandhav (14) were the only batsmen into double figures on the night as the bowling was spot on from their opponents and the target to chase a steep ask.
Kenneth Waiswa (1), Dinesh Nakrani (1), Rogers Olipa (1), Ketan Khunti and Sanjay Keshwala (1) all picked a wicket a piece as they shared the load all round to win the game by 87 runs.
A display of fireworks and some professional hitting to light up the Night Cricket Tournament. The Tournament has grown in stature and this show of power hitting by Keshwala ‘B’ will have many opponents in the group rethinking their strategies.
For the first time in the three editions, there seems to be some genuinely good competition on the cards and there will be some brutal hitting to contend with as the fans keenly look forward to the clash of the opening rounds “KESHAWALA ‘B’ VS PAKSTALLIONS” on Monday 1st August 2016.
