ENTEBBE LAKESIDE OVAL
TEAM FORM LAST WO GAMES;
KUTCHI TIGER CC; L W
KICC; L L
Kutchi Tigers CC begin their second round fixtures on 15th May 2016 at Entebbe Lakeside oval against Kampala Institute of Cricket clubs; one of three clubs that could easily join Wanderers in Division 2 next season, but not just yet. Not if Alpesh Hirani the captain has anything to say about it.
Alpesh Hirani the Kutchi Tigers CC captain is a soft spoken man, yet seems to get his message across quite effectively; with an affable smile; on the cricket field, he has the similar leadership tendencies of letting the game ebb and flow only stepping forward if it threatens to go over the edge, such is the free expression that has allowed them to play some flowing cricket and marvelous innings.
It is with the same laid back attitude that he announced the arrival of three big guns to grace the local league this weekend in their game against KICC at Entebbe. They are the first side this season to fly in more than one pro and this is a sign of how seriously they take this second round as well as how tight it is considering they are tied on 17 points with Nile CC and Tornado CC at the cusp of relegation.
Hiren Ashok Varaiya, Rajesh Lalji Bhudia and Vinod Rabadiya will be walking through immigration at Entebbe airport with only the intent of doing a number on KICC on Sunday. This is no mean feat, the three Kenyan pros have all worn their country’s colours and are fond of doing demolition jobs quite well in Uganda.
Hiren Varaiya was part of the 2012 Kenya National squad that took on Ireland at Mombasa Sports Club ground in the Intercontinental cup and he almost single handedly destroyed the Irish picking twelve wickets for the match with six in each innings.
All three players have long enjoyed their brief forays into Ugandan league cricket; Rajesh Bhudia in his last outing in Uganda decimated the Challengers batting line up at Kyambogo Cricket Oval picking 7-13 in his 10 over spell on 14th June 2015. Vinod Rabadiya destroyed Nile C.C at the same ground on 24th May 2015 scoring 101(72) with fellow traveler Hiren Varaiya scoring 32(34).
It will be tough going for KICC and their talisman Frank Nsubuga must pull out all his party tricks to keep his team afloat. Another loss and they could be in for some serious battles for second place.
They first brought in Abdul Rehman at the beginning of the season but ever since his departure, it has not been easy going for KICC; three losses and the trophy has now slipped out of reach, it will take a lot mistakes from their title rivals and some excellent cricket on their part to make it.
However, if anyone can handle this kind of pressure situation, it will seasoned Veteran Frank Nsubuga together with batsmen John Tumusiime and Arthur Ziraba.
